STORY WEEK with [Caitlin Pyle] What can you learn from this story and how can model it to improve your business.
Bonjour and welcome to the MLM Trigger, I am your host Corine Arnaud and this PODCAST is to help you LEVERAGE Your Network Marketing Skills using the internet to grow your MLM downline.
Our story of the week is about how Caitlin rebuilt her business, an automated webinar funnel for a general Proof-Reading Business Building Course. Although it took her many months the first time around, she planned to launch the rebuilt course and funnel after just 30 days this time.
She began contacting everyone she trained one-on-one in proof-reading in the last several years and scheduled interviews with them on video. She used Zoom because they are free (and she was broke). She contacted former clients from when she was freelancing and asked for testimonials for her sales page. Since she didn’t have her former reputation, she had to create her own credibility.
She started outlining the content for her training program. When brainstorming course content, she always wrote down questions potential students might ask. Many of the questions she could easily anticipate based on her one-on-one training experience. The answers to those questions became the bedrock of her course content. She expanded her outlines into more robust content, basically brain dumping everything she knew about the topic, dividing it logically into course units within the member area. Using free screencast software, she also created basic tutorials to go along with her written content.
She did this as she went along because for her product, she didn’t intend to go back and add or fix things until after she got feedback from her initial students. She finished her course unit drafts and started to create the course units and modules. She used a template because she could always go back and make it pretty later.
She filmed a few short (10 minute) interviews with people she had trained one-on-one in the past and asked each person four questions. What did your life look like before you worked with me? What actions did you take as a result of working with me? How has your life improved since taking those actions? Would you recommend working with me to your friends, family, and colleagues?
Then she used the exact language they used to answer these questions as she began outlining her sales letter. She added her testimonial videos, and because she started receiving testimonials from her former freelance clients, she included those in the sales page, too. She drafted an outline for her a webinar FREE workshop on how to monetize your proof-reading skills.
Her main focus for the workshop and for pretty much anything she created was to make it a no-brainer offer. That meant doing things like open the workshop with an incentive to stay to the very end, include tons of juicy bonuses in the value stack, and top it off with a generous fast-action discount for people who invested in the program quickly after viewing the webinar. She already knew what her target customer was struggling with, what actions they needed to take, and what results they wanted more money, higher status, more freedom and flexibility in their lives, etc.
Recording day! She uploaded a short video introducing people to the program. She researched 10–15 potential affiliates for her program. She wrote three swipe emails for her new affiliates with simple invitations they could easily customize for their audience. Each email invited the reader to attend the free “Monetize Your Proofreading Skills” 60-minute workshop. She typed out answers to questions from several bloggers and reached out to who wanted to create a Q&A piece with her on their blogs.
Even though these folks were already making money proofreading, her training program would teach them how to make even more money by using proactive marketing strategy versus the passive sit-and-wait method platform. She created a FB Group for her students and invited her past one-on-one trainees into the group
She signed up for Help A Reporter Out and start watching queries. Reporters of all kinds are always looking for sources to quote or to contribute to their articles, and a great way to make contact with these reporters.
Her original automated webinar funnel for the general proofreading course launched on April 2017, and generated $1 million in eight months. She never did once the webinar live, she automated from the very beginning. Obviously, it’s important that you deliver over-the-top value during your webinar and that your product actually works.
Lastly, some encouragement! In 2014, she was earning $45,000 annually and knew nothing about digital marketing, course creation, or sales funnels. Yet she since acquired the skills and used to easily generate that much revenue in a day. Something just short of magic happens when you learn new skills and apply them. Her life transformed because she learned marketing and funnels. Yours can transform, too. You already have everything you need to succeed—now you’ve just got to use it!
